Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Innovative PAC and CMC grades for drilling fluids

A full range of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) and Poly Anionic Cellulose (PAC) grades. STAFLO, GABROIL and GABROSA are well-known brands throughout the oil industry. Akzo Nobel is one of the few suppliers able to deliver a full range of high-performance polymers in both technical and pure grades.

THE ENVIRONMENT
STAFLO, GABROIL AND GABROSA ARE FULLY BIODEGRADABLE
Environmental considerations are increasingly imposing stringent demands on today’s mud systems and its ingredients. The of natural polymers derived CMC’s and PAC’s are environmentally friendly substances and fully biodegradable. This and the fact that Akzo Nobel’s GABROSA CMC grades, STAFLO and GABROIL PAC grades are also non-toxic, makes them applicable without restrictions anywhere in the world.

PAC
Polyanionic cellulosics (PAC’s) have been developed to meet the increasing demands being placed on polymers. Especially in high electrolyte containing systems our PAC’s will be the products of your choice.
STAFLO Regular and STAFLO Exlo are premium PAC grades with 99% active material. These materials outperform most of the other PAC’s with regard to fluid loss reduction, viscosity contribution and shale inhibition. Exlo, unlike the Regular grade, has little effect on the rheology of the system.
GABROIL HV and GABROIL LV grades are especially intended for those cases where economic aspects dominate and conditions are less severe.

CMC
CMC grades from Akzo Nobel are marketed under the GABROSA name.
GABROSA EHV Tech is an efficient viscosifier which also has a positive effect on the fluid retention. It meets both the OCMA DFCP-7 specification and the API specification for drilling CMC Hivis grades.
GABROSA HV Tech is a high viscous grade with the same fluid loss properties as LV Tech, but also producing instant viscosity increase without the danger of over-treatment.
GABROSA LV Tech is known for its excellent fluid loss reduction properties. It meets both the OCMA DFCP-2 specification and the API specification for CMC Lovis grades.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND INNOVATIONS
TAILOR-MADE SOLUTIONS TO OPTIMIZE PERFORMANCE
As the strategy of Akzo Nobel Cellulosic Specialties is to develop new Cellulose based products, we have a strong R&D focusing on new product development. In close cooperation with our customers, Akzo Nobel is active in the development of new modified cellulose polymers, which supply additional functionalities beyond ordinary actions of common CMC’s and PAC’s. Well equipped laboratories and Pilot Plants are available both for Product Development and customer’s specific requirements.

Examples of recent developments of new sophisticated products are:

  • amphoteric cellulose ethers for shale inhibition,
  • associative polymers as shear-thinning rheology modifiers
  • higher quality technical PAC grades improving the economy of use.
